A final blog for the 2012-2013 school year

Dear Parents,

I give you back your child, the same child you confidently entrusted to my care last fall.  I give them back pounds heavier, inches taller, months wiser, more responsible, and more mature than they were then.

Although they would have attained their growth in spite of me, it has been my pleasure and privilege to watch their personality unfold day by day and marvel at this splendid miracle of development.

I give them back reluctantly, for having spent nine months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other.

We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year,  I wish it could go on indefinitely, but given them back I must.  Take care of your child, for they are precious.

Remember that I shall always be interested in your child and their destiny, wherever she goes, whatever they do, whatever they become.  Their joys and sorrow I’ll be happy to share.  I shall always be their friend.

Have a wonderful summer.

The last few days of school

As this year comes to an end we have been changing up our learning styles. And just been learning and having fun!!!!!!!

Our science unit on Matter has been really hands on.  Here are a few pictures of what we have been doing.  We made our own foil boats to see who could hold the most pennies. (sink or float). The winning boat held 191 pennies. We also did gas experiments with baking soda and vinegar.

Mrs. Biggi came in and challenged our triads to create the tallest land structures .

Next week:

Monday: First Grade Transition Day to Ashbrook

Tuesday: "Camp In" Day.  Bring in your flashlight and sleeping bag (if you have one)

Wednesday: Game Day: Bring in your favorite board game to school and play it with your friends

Thursday: Minute to Win It Day.

Friday: Last Day of First Grade...... Summer is here!!!
