Summer Vacation is on its way

Dear Parents,

I give you back your child, the same child you confidently entrusted to my care last fall.  I give them back pounds heavier, inches taller, months wiser, more responsible, and more mature than they were then.

Although they would have attained their growth in spite of me, it has been my pleasure and privilege to watch their personality unfold day by day and marvel at this splendid miracle of development.

I give them back reluctantly, for having spent nine months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other.

We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year,  I wish it could go on indefinitely, but given them back I must.  Take care of your child, for they are precious.

Remember that I shall always be interested in your child and their destiny, wherever she goes, whatever they do, whatever they become.  Their joys and sorrow I’ll be happy to share.  I shall always be their friend.

Thank you to all of you who contributed to my class gift.  All the items were carefully selected and thoughtfully planned.  It will be enjoyed immensely.

The last few days of of June fun days were Arts and Crafts day.  I am sure your budding artist showed you all their work and today was Kickball Day.  What a wonderful day in the sunshine to enjoy the last day of 1st grade.

Have a wonderful summer.

LAST FULL day of 1st Grade

We had our class awards ceremony this morning where the kids got to strut down the red carpet like rock stars.

Then it was party time.  We danced.

We got ready for our water balloon toss

Be careful.  Work as a team.

Then back inside the classroom for some limbo.

Winners of the Limbo.

We managed to get in some extra recess on Wednesday.

Yesterday we stayed relaxed and had our beach day.  We made sandcastles without even visiting the beach  Imagine that.
Check us out:

Since the weather is so warm today for our June Fun Day we ate frozen treats while watching FROZEN.

Have a great weekend.

We are so bright we MUST wear Shades

Today was Sunglass Day in class.  Since the weather really did not cooperate with us in the morning we had to make other plans.  Actually we made our summer plans.  Check them out.

We also watched a snapping turtle (at a safe distance) lay her eggs this morning.  So cool.  If you look closely you will see the white egg.  It is about the size of a golf ball.

See you all at the Coffeehouse poetry on Friday at 10 AM.
