First, we were fantastic at our 1st grade musical performance “Getting’ down with Mama Goose”, if I do say so myself. I was very proud of the class as they performed their songs. I think we may have started several “budding singers” careers.
The class is also getting excited about our upcoming field trip on TUESDAY, APRIL 23rd to the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. Please make sure your child wears their special white pirate shirt you received at the beginning of the school year. I placed each child’s shirt in the treasure chest they received at Back to School Night. This will make it easy to locate the class amongst all the others that will be attending the museum that same day. Also please make sure you child brings in a bag lunch that day. We would like everything to be disposable, no lunch boxes please.
Late on Friday afternoon, our chicken eggs arrived. Yes, it is true, we will be trying to hatch some chickens. We received 19 eggs. We have: Blue Orpington, Blue Laced R Wyandotte, Golden Cuckoo Marans, Lavender Orpington, Partridge Penedesenca, and Slamon Faverole. It will take 21 days to hatch so I will keep you posted. Since the eggs came so late, I will share with the class on Monday what the chickens will look like all mature. The fun has begun. It is my hope that you will be able to see them in person during our curriculum and learning/art show in mid-May.
We are getting our poetry down on paper this past week. We have learned how to write acrostic, Ask me why, colors, senses, and action poems. We are poets and some of us did not even know it.
Hope you are enjoying your child reading to you each night. It is encouraging to see all the growth this year.
