Hap-PEEP Day

At 9:20 am all the students in class became Peep Parents.  We carefully selected our egg.

All at once we opened our egg to see what we had, a boy or a girl was based on its color and birthday date.
Our new parents are thrilled with their bundles of joy.
We weighed and measure our peeps to make sure everything was in tip top shape.

Now to introduce our newest bundles of joy:

If your "new parent" wishes to take care of their Peep over the break, please send a picture to me to share in the fun activities that they do over the break. It will be worth 3 golden tickets.

Spring has Sprung

I hope you got a chance this past week to enjoy the great spring preview we received.  WE sure did.

We took out poetry and our senses and wrote a outside senses poem. We took in everything there was to hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, touching outside in the great weather. Our poetry writing unit this month is really coming along.  We have some great poets within our class.  It will be on display at our Coffeehouse Poetry next month.  More details will follow.

In math we have started a new module.  It is module 4 and it is about place value.  In my opinion, this module is so important.  Kids need to understand not only what numbers are, how to recognize them but also what the number and their placement means.  Below is the PDF for the first part of the unit with explanations and examples. Click on the link to read it:  Module 4 Topic A

In Reading we are starting a new unit too.  Now that we are reading much harder books and longer books, some of us are even reading chapter books, it is important that we continue to practice fluency, phonics and comprehension at these new levels.

Hope you have your leprechaun traps ready.  Don't forget to send them to school by Thursday, March 17th.  FLW is known to have some sly leprechauns that cause havoc in our classroom, hopefully this year we can catch him.

Monday is Pi day... I can't wait.

Read Across America in Review

The week is over
We had so much to do
Take a peek
And see what is new.

In honor of Leap Day 2016 we measured how far we could leap our frogs.

Mrs. Scacco was our guest reader on Tuesday.

Red fish, blue fish, one fish, two fish we counted, sorted, and had some fun.

On Wacky Wednesday we went into Ms. Rosvold's Kindergarten class and left a yummy surprise.  It's string cheese.

On Thursday we came to school in our pajamas and as a school read around the Mulberry Bush so early in the morning.

In the afternoon that day we ate our own version of green eggs and ham.

Read, read, read we did a lot of reading.

Look how much we read.... our hallways were filled with a chain of books throughout the school.

On Friday we were already for our Read Across America finale.  We went up on stage to recite our nursery rhyme "Little Boy Blue"

Even even had one of our own read a book to the entire class.
Great Job!!
