Today we had our kick off assembly of Read Across America. This year's theme is Mother Goose Rhymes. Matter of fact, we were visited by the lady herself in an assembly. Check out the pictures below:
Our Stage was set to kick off this fantastic week.

She told the students to look for her in the sky when you see the geese flying over head. Since geese have short legs hers will be the ones that look like this.
Each day next week the students will be involved in some sort of reading activity:
Monday: they will have to unscramble the nursery rhyme left in the class by Mother Goose
Tuesday: A guest reader will come to read to us
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday. I will let the kids tell you about that when it happens
Thursday: PJ and stuffed animal day. Come to school with your favorite stuffed animal (must fit into a book bag) and wear your pjs as a whole school will read around the mulberry bush in the school cafeteria.
Friday: the FINALE. It is our hope that the Principal that lives in the shoe will come bring along some of her nursery rhyme friends.
Please have your child read 1 book per day and write the title of the book on the paper book. Cut out the book and send it to school. We are going to hang up each book read by the students and see if we can circle the school with books. I have more book papers if needed.
